About us

Bali, known for its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, is a top tourist destination, yet beneath its beauty lies a significant issue of poverty that often goes unnoticed. While tourism has fueled economic growth in some areas, many Balinese communities, particularly in rural regions, continue to face challenges such as low wages, limited access to education, and inadequate healthcare. The stark contrast between the thriving tourist industry and the living conditions of local people highlights the urgent need for sustainable efforts to improve lives, create job opportunities, and support education. These initiatives are essential for lifting these communities out of poverty and ensuring a more equitable future for all Balinese people.

The Aura Sukma Insani Foundation (ASI) is dedicated to this mission, believing in the transformative power of education and providing assistance to those in need. Based in Sambangan, near Singaraja and Lovina in northern Bali's Buleleng Regency, the foundation operates in one of Bali's most underdeveloped regions. Buleleng is the island’s largest regency, covering over 23.6% of Bali’s total area. However, it also has the highest poverty rates.
